This App Changed My Life

By: Crystal Manning

This is my daily routine.

·       Wake up at 5:30am
·       Get ready for work
·       Leave the house by 6:00am
·       Work from 6:30am – 3:00ish pm
·       Get home from work around 3:30pm – Greet oldest 2 children (ages 14 & 11)
·       Meet youngest 2 children (ages 7 &4) at the bus stop
·       Help children with homework
·       Oversee chores being done
·       Realize it’s 5:30pm and we need to prepare for dinner
·       5:45pm Realize I didn’t get a chance to go to the grocery store
·       Start doing my homework
·       Ask everyone what they want to eat at 6:00pm
·       Order from Uber Eats or DoorDash at 6:15pm
·       Oversee children bathing at 6:30pm
·       Food delivered at 7:00pm
·       Eat dinner at 7:05
·       Put kids to sleep by 8:30pm
·       Still doing my homework until 9:00am
·       Unwind from the day and try to be to sleep by 10:00pm

No matter how your schedule is set up I am sure we have an identical sentiment, “24 hours just isn’t enough.”

As a mother of 4 with a full-time job and attending college, I have learned to embrace even the slightest process that saves me time, money or energy. That’s why when I come across a process that helps minimize at least two of the three I eagerly incorporate it into my lifestyle.

As you can see from the above outline of my daily routine my problem is not having time to grocery shop. While that problem is easily remedied by simply ordering pre-cooked meals, this remedy is costly and mundane. I quickly find myself burnt out on eating out. There is nothing like a home-cooked meal prepared with love. I mean there are only so many hamburgers, fajitas and fried rice dishes you can take before it becomes excessive.

Then one day I came across the most wonderful App ever. This app fixed my issue of not being able to find the time to perform the simple task of buying groceries. It also saved the most precious commodity when you are over the age of 30, energy. And last but not least it saved me money!
This was an App sent from the heavens. InstaCart!

FiveStarHomeFoods.com says “The average person goes to the grocery store 1.6 times a week and spends 43 minutes there, not including the time spent getting to and from the store. Therefore, on average we spend about 60 hours of grocery shopping per year.”

Forbes.com says “We found on average; it is almost five times more expensive to order delivery from a restaurant than it is to cook at home.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I could do a lot with an extra 60hrs a year.

·      InstaCart requires you to go through a brief and easy registration process.
o   Following my link gives you $10 off your 1st order of $35 or more.

·      Choose delivery from several local stores such as HEB, ALDI, Kroger, Costco, Sam’s Club, Sprouts, and even includes Spec’s, Total Wine, CVS, and Petco.
·      Add your items to your cart. Choose from the following departments and more:
o   Produce
o   Dairy & Eggs
o   Snacks
o   Beverages
o   Frozen
o   Pantry
o   Meat & Seafood
o   Deli
o   Bakery
o   Household
o   Bulk
o   Canned Goods
o   Pasta & Dry Goods
o   International
o   Babies
o   Personal Care
o   Pets
o   Floral
·      Pick a delivery time
·      Pay over the App
·      Groceries are delivered to your door by a friendly face.

The app even offers coupon savings and the ability to choose alternatives if the store's supply is low on a certain item.

The fee is lower than the cost to have food delivered by Uber Eats and now your family is able to enjoy a home-cooked meal prepared by a person who loves them.  If you are like so many other Americans and every little percentage of saving time, money and energy counts, then I highly suggest you give this App a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Do you have a favorite app that saves you time, money, energy or simply helps you to find peace amongst the chaos? We would love you hear from you, leave a comment below.
